Okay, here is my first “real” post of the year. What better topic to start out with than ORGANIZING!!! I have known for a while that I needed to get some organizing done, but couldn’t decide where I wanted to start. Well, I’ve decided.
This is my little corner of the craft room. It also acts as my “office” of sorts. As you can see the space, such as it is, isn’t being used well. So my first organization project is going to be to tackle this.
First I have a confession to make…I am addicted to magazines! I just love them. The look of the covers, the feel of them, and the great ideas inside just make me all giddy! The problem with this addiction is that I get piles and piles of old magazines just sitting around. This has to change. Toward that end, I purchased a crate and file folders so as I read any new magazines and come across ideas that I can’t live without I can rip the page out and it will go straight into my “Idea File”.
There are only a few problems with this. Doing that for the new magazines won’t be hard. As I said before, however, I have a huge backlog of magazines. Some of them date back to 2005 or earlier. It’s a sickness, I know. So, I have decided to only allow myself to go back through the last two years of magazines to pull ideas out. The rest I am going to force myself to recycle.
The second problem is figuring out what filing system to use. The vast majority of my magazines are scrapbooking or paper craft related. Do I organize by number of photos in a layout? By holiday? By color? There are so many ways to do this, it makes my head spin a little.
Bottom line. I want to take a week or so, and get this area really good and organized. Hopefully I can translate that into other areas of my life, but first things first.
This is totally random. Logan saw I was taking pictures, and had to jump in there and make faces at me. 100% boy!
